How Rural Transportation Works

Operated by the Rapides Senior Citizens Center and funded by the LA Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration through Rapides Parish Police Jury, our rural transportation runs Monday-Friday to Senior Centers, doctor and other appointments, pharmacy and grocery stores and other locations. All services must be scheduled 24 hours in advance on a first come, first served basis. There is NO same-day service offered. Rapides Senior Citizens Center reserves the right to refuse and passenger services if they violate any of the standards outlined in our service policy.

Our Service Hours

Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

Requests for rides must be scheduled during regular office hours and should be scheduled no later than 12:00 p.m. the day prior to the requested trip. Scheduling transportation requests are based upon availability and volume of trips. Contact phone number for transportation request: (318) 487-1561.

Inside Town Limits

60 years of age and over $4.00

Under 60 years of age $7.00

*We do not provide child car seats.

Outside Town Limits

60 years of age and over $8.00

60 years and under $12.00

Transportation to all center locations $0.50

*We do not provide child car seats.

Cost/Fare

Holidays and Closures

Our transportation services will not operate in dangerous weather conditions and standard holidays:

Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Mardi Gras, Good Friday, and Memorial Day.

Other holidays could included Election Day, Veterans Day or Juneteenth.
